WOW! Let's Play is a perfect name for this fun, refreshing, and thought provoking CD. Ann is extremely talented and everyone should know this. I cannot stress enough to put these piano solos in your collection and selection of music.
I have an aunt who plays the piano and am considering this book as a gift for her because it offers a lot of variety and the pieces are originals! I also like that there's a CD that I can include so that she can hear the pieces too!
Another great book from Ann Marie. This is one of my favorite ladies in the industry. He well balanced approach in "Let's Play" is super and combining that with her CD is a perfect approach to those students who need an extra little help on understanding phrasing and performance. Thanks Ann Marie for another great book.
The songs contained in this collection are beautiful and true to its title -- "for all occasions." Though they vary widely in mood, each of these solos combine a certain degree of technical challenge with the delight of one uplifting, soaring melody after another. These songs are treasures and the collection as a whole highly recommended!
Ann Marie's passion and love for music bursts forth from every page of Let's Play. I especially love Hummingbird Waltz as you can actually hear the hummingbird's wings whizzing. She brings her love of boogie boarding to music in Boogie Boardin' Boogie as she and her husband boogie board almost every day at Pismo Beach. I appreciate how she brings her own love of life to every song she writes. Great fun playing all of them on the piano! Luanne Griguoli
What an enjoyable time I had playing through your 12 Piano Solos for All Occasions, “Let’s Play”! In a comfortable style and traditional tonality, the different sections of each piece feature contrasting melodies and rhythms, interesting key progressions, and occasional delicious chromatic colors. Some sections that stand out as particularly poignant and wonderful include the refreshing intro and coda in “Refreshing Rain,” the wistful 6/8 section with hemiola in “Friends,” the picturesque Presto in “Hummingbird Waltz,” and the effectively soulful chromaticism throughout “Reflections.” Well-composed!
This piano book is written as a set of somewhat “songs without words” as rich and expressive melodies truly ask for singing along. It’s suitable for all ages, intermediate or advanced level piano players. Varied in style, tempo and character, it offers a colorful musical palette for all occasions. It’s Party Time, Boogie Boarding Boogie and Honeymoon Rag are upbeat, jazzy and energetic pieces. Hummingbird Waltz is an example of flashy, virtuosic waltz when Mystery (Song of the Sea) is an example of slow, elegant waltz. The titles of Stand Tall, Friends, A World of Peace & Beauty and Just Another Day signify a positive advice, or a nurturing wisdom coming from a composer who is a parent and a grandparent herself (especially A Kiss From Grammie). Refreshing Rain is a meditative and a picturesque piece. Enjoy!
